Posturefit was founded by Michelle Owen, New Zealand’s most knowledgeable structural and postural health expert.
She has created a space where athletes, busy executives, gym-goers, and those seeking a greater sense of wellness can get highly specialised support, training, and motivation.
Most people don’t consider posture when it comes to understanding pain, injury or sub-optimal performance.
Posturefit view the body as a whole, and understand how interrelated parts of your body impact on another’s function.
We take the time to first assess postural imbalances and fascia distortion, then create completely personalised postural correction plans that re-educate your structure.
Using a range of specialised techniques, our focus is on assessing and correcting physical imbalances, so you can transform the way you feel and perform both physically and mentally.
90-minute C.H.E.K postural & orthopedic assessment, which involves a series of tests and measurements, as well as a discussion about your routine, goals, challenges, or concerns.
Working one-on-one with one of our coaches, you’ll transform your body from the inside out.
Our group classes are designed to further support you in strengthening and improving your posture, and bringing energy and balance back into your body.

Our Customer Reviews
I had been experiencing lower back pain for several years and tried all sorts of things from a personal trainer through to acupuncture. It took the very first visit with Michelle at Posturefit Studios to see why this was and to also release this pain I had been carrying. Several sessions later and I had the know how to never feel the pain I had been living with for long.
After living with a life-changing back injury for many years. I had tried just about everything with no real change or improvements. A friend told me about Posturefit and ever since starting there it has been a very friendly positive experience with very noticeable improvement. I feel very lucky to have found them.
I can’t recommend them enough.
Going to Posturefit Studio for private lessons and group classes has been THE most effective treatment for my pain, immobility, and physical dysfunction. I am now in my 50’s and stronger and fitter than I have ever been. I see people everywhere moving around, uncomfortable in their pain and restriction and I want to run up and tell them to go to Posturefit!
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I need a Postural Assessment?
Most people could stand to improve their posture, but it’s particularly important for active people, athletes, and people who want to prevent injuries and surgeries. If you’re not sure whether you need an assessment, read through this checklist – if you answer yes to any of the questions, it’s worth getting in touch.

· I have had surgery recently.
· I am an athlete and I would like to improve my performance.
· My pain and recurring injuries are affecting my ability to play sport or exercise.

What happens next?
Once your postural assessment is complete, I can design your personalised training and coaching programme. Coaching is a mixture of specialised exercises to correct your imbalances, such as myofacsial stretching and ELDOA spinal decompression, stability and functional strength training, all which are used to create your new postural position. The goal is to create new neural pathways, which helps you correct any imbalances, create optimal joint positions and maintain new habits long term.
How long do I need to work with you?
It depends on how much you want to learn. I relate this to learning a language for example if you where going to learn French or any other language some people are happy with knowing a few words and others may want to become fluent. So how that looks in training is one client might want to learn a few stretches for home and be happy with that, and another may want to correct their muscle imbalance, get level, stable and functionally strong to perform better at their sport and be injury free which of couse will take longer.
I encourage clients to a do minimal of 10 sessions but if you have specific goals working with me over the long term as this is how you really get results. Good things do take time and commitment, but in saying that a little expertise can also help a lot.
How long will it take to see improvements?
Getting improvement is extremely varied, and depends on many things. They include: the level of dysfunction within your body, your learning abilities, your level of commitment to the programme, your lifestyle choices, and your emotional status. I see some clients leaping ahead with flying colours and others chipping away very slowly. I work with you where you’re at, and encourage you forward. Improvement can be felt very quickly if there is a commitment to making change and doing the homework.
Do I have to always work with you or can I work alone as well?
It is totally up to you how much you work with me and how much you work alone. Everyone has a different preference, depending on time and money. It’s better to do more coaching initially and then tailor it to suit, as it involves a big learning curve. Once the assessment is complete it is optimal to train with me twice a week initally and when you have some new skills this can be tappered to once a week and less over time. Some clients keep doing twice a week.
This is all worked out on what is right for you.
How will I know if my posture is improving?
You will feel your body becoming freer, and notice that it becomes easier to stand up within proper alignment and hold yourself in this position. Pain, tightness and discomfort will ease and over time you will feel the supporting muscles of your body starting to hold you in an improved position. As you become strong and re-programme your movement patterns you’ll notice how your body moves from the correct areas and more fluidly.
Your body and muscle imbalance will start normalising and feel even over time and joints start sitting in the correct position– this is a great feeling
What else is involved?
This depends on the individual. After your assessment I may make some suggestions to speed up your progress. This could be visiting other practitioners to have soft tissue work, spinal alignment, or supplementation for particular aliments. Quite often clients have tried many other modalities but usually individually and not alongside addressing the under-lying muscle imbalance and new movement patterns at the same time. Combining it all is what makes I powerful. Example to build a house you have the builder, plumber, electrition and more…. You would not just try and build the house with the electrition, which is like ging to the chiropractor without correction your muscle imbalance alongside
What is a C.H.E.K. practitioner?
C.H.E.K. stands for Corrective High-performance Exercise Kinesiologist.
The C.H.E.K. certification programme is designed to produce the finest and most highly trained exercise therapists and strength and conditioning specialists in the world. The C.H.E.K. certification programme is completed in four blocks of intensive modules, taught in a focused small-group setting, followed by examinations at the completion of the course work.
How does this training vary from a normal personal trainer?
The C.H.E.K. system is a holistic approach that addresses your immediate concerns, as well as looking at your long term health. As a C.H.E.K. practitioner, Michelle specialises in isolating the areas where you need coaching, correction, stabilisation or specific core conditioning. After a comprehensive postural and orthopaedic assessment, checking structure and movement, and an evaluation of nutrition and lifestyle factors, a customised, holistic programme is developed. A plan is made to prioritise your efforts to address/correct the most important things first, leading on to a series of planned progressive exercises that are goal-focused and in tune with your overall needs.
